WASH: Why spend a penny when there’s no ROI?

How to drive investment in water and sanitation systems for vulnerable communities where finance won’t go
27 February 2019 | Time: 14:00 – 15:00 GMT

If we’re serious about reaching SDG 6, ensuring water and sanitation (WaSH) for all, we must reach even the most marginalised communities with systems that not only keep people healthy but also stand the test of time.

Investing in sustainable WaSH solutions for fragile contexts can pose a serious challenge. Finance is available for credit worthy WaSH enterprises, but how about those that operate in the red?

The webinar will explore investing in models that provide massive social returns but fall short on financial returns; with examples of how to develop financially viable water services, learning from failure and unlikely successes.

Power in numbers

Trade-offs, challenges and learnings from measuring the impact of women’s empowerment projects
TBC May 2019 | Time: 14:00 – 15:00 GMT

Empowering women and supporting gender equality are the stated aims of many development projects. However, empowerment is also deeply challenging from a measurement perspective – an abstract and contested concept boasting a range of sometimes-dry definitions.

The webinar will explore and share lessons learned from the international development and philanthropic community’s efforts to pin down this hard-to-measure concept, and ultimately show that it is having an impact on women’s lives.
